Jana-Sanghatan: There is a great need to organize the rural masses, especially the extinct community like the refugees, to mainstream them with local communities. 

Community meeting to resolve their economic issues through SHG

With this objective Janakalyan started (Women Development & Empowerment Program) promoting SHGs of men and women in the year 1997 and developed its own innovative model for SHG. Janakalyan has rich experience in formation as well as training of SHGs. It provides training to the staffs, CEOs and others involved in the promotion of SHGs in Karnataka and about 1000 women and men have been covered under 200 SHGs in two districts of Karnataka. It has also formed a cluster level federation of SHGs (GNAN), which was made independent after 3 years of nurturing. Janakalyan was the member (NGO nominee) of SGSY District Coordination Committee chaired by the CEO, ZP, Raichur. All programs of Janakalyan are channeled through these people’s institutions. Janakalyan is a member of PlanetFinance micro credit forum. 

District level International Women Day Celebration by the SHG members

GNAN (Garibi Nirmoolan Avartan Nidhi) is a microcredit institution promoted by Janakalyan to make the SHG intervention sustainable. It being the umbrella organization for all these SHGs, satisfies the credit requirements of all the members and also intervene in the social sectors to take care of issues concerning women and their children
